Dr. George J. Rafferty
Superintendent of Schools
Dr. George J. Rafferty has been serving as Superintendent of Schools for Mount Laurel since February 2016. A graduate of Hahnemann University and Holy Family University where he earned a B.A. in Special Education, Dr. Rafferty attended Rowan University earning a M.A. in School Psychology, an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in School Administration. He also holds a Doctorate of Education in Innovation and Leadership from Wilmington University.
Dr. Rafferty began his educational career as a special education teacher in the Pennsauken Public Schools. He later served as a school counselor in Gloucester Township before returning to Pennsauken as a school psychologist. Dr. Rafferty moved on to assume administrative posts as a Supervisor of Special Services and Director of Special Education. Prior to his appointment in Mount Laurel, he served as Superintendent of Schools for the Tabernacle Township School District.
Dr. Rafferty has educational experience serving the needs of all students at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels, in both urban and suburban communities, ensuring that equity and excellence exists throughout educational programs.
